Taking Flight Sustainably: Solar Zeppelin Impresses at Aerospace Congress
The innovative Zeppelin from FAU captured significant attention at the 2nd Aerospace Aviation Congress Interdisciplinary International (AACII), held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Meistersingerhalle in Nuremberg.
Under the motto “Together for a Better World,” the 2nd AACII provided an important platform for exhibitors and experts from industry and academia to discuss the latest developments in aerospace and aviation. Attendees explored engaging thematic areas, including Aerospace, Satellite Technologies, Automotive-New Mobility, Drones PAV/UAM, and New Generation Aircraft.
Calculations demonstrated that utilizing solar-powered Zeppelins could substantially reduce both transportation costs and aviation-related CO₂ emissions. “Solar Zeppelins represent an entirely climate-friendly technology, equipped with ultra-lightweight, highly efficient thin-film solar cells that continuously recharge during flight. As a result, flying generates absolutely zero combustion-related emissions,” says Prof. Christoph Pflaum.
The Zeppelin exhibit notably highlighted advancements toward sustainable aviation, underlining the role innovative technologies play in shaping a greener future.
